Each year the FSMS holds a meeting during the summer break, including faculty talks and student posters. The highlight of the meeting is a student "hands-on" workshop.

For the 2009 year, there will be a summer kick-off meeting for the REU program. This meeting will include the workshop activities for the REU students. The FSMS meeting will be held at the end of the summer session. In addition to faculty talks and student posters, the REU participants will have a chance to present their work.
